business jets prices
Are you familiar with aircraft charter prices (expensive)?

On a UK expense account I see:
(1) £15,080 for a one day charter from one airport in southern England to Belfast City and returning to a different airport (68 miles from the original airport [ 268.5+309.6= 578.1 miles]
(2) £33,400 for an overnight charter same route leaving and returning to the same airport [309.6+309.6 = 619.2 miles]
————-
That is four flight legs totalling 1200 miles for almost £50 thousand ($80K). What kind of jets could these possibly be that would be that expensive ? I though even heavy business jets were a lot less than that. Is that what a Boeing Business Jet or an Airbus 219 costs to charter?
$80K for four short hops?

In the charter business, the situation is:

If you ask, you can’t afford it

and yes, 80,000$ is common in the charter business. It’s probably a jet, but there’s a lot to a charter (maintenance, insurance, fuel, crew pay–pilots and flight attendants if any, landing slot fees, all sorts of costs that may or may not be included in the expenses you saw.

edit: you can google some charter company’s online quote calculators but here’s a quote from a charter company’s website to convince you.

“The cost of a Boeing Business Jet today is about $68,000,000 to purchase and with a 10 year waiting list to get one new. if you just wish to charter then expect to find rates in the $10,000 per hour range plus the usual surcharges for private jet travel. [...])
