Definitely one reason that helps them succeed is their operations manual. Go to a McDonalds from Alaska to Florida and they are the same. A Another reason for the success of McDonald's, no matter where the McDonalds in the U.S., you can get the same burger, and that makes people feel safe, then they know they can fell confident that they will get what they want. The next thing really smart about McDonalds Policy Manual, that they can take people completely inexperienced and have the backup function consistently thereafter throughout the manual.
And if a paint company has many jobs that require specialized skills, there are many tasks that are repetitive and can be described as an instruction manual. Of course, you will not need to hire these people immediately, because you can always do the hard work.
